Exciting News! Goldston Library Expansion is Underway!

Goldston Public Library to Undergo Expansion

GOLDSTON, NC—Chatham County is excited to announce the expansion of Goldston Public Library. The expansion project, focusing on the children’s area, will add 2,020 square feet to the existing building: providing the library with an additional story time room, extra shelf space for children and teen materials, and additional staff arrangements.

Construction is scheduled to begin September 15 and is expected to take approximately six to eight months to complete.

A portion of the children’s collection will not be in circulation due to construction; patrons may request items from the other Chatham County branches, Chatham Community Library in Pittsboro and Wren Memorial Library in Siler City. The library will update the community with any additional closings during the project.

During closures, the public can still access the following:

  • Outside book drop.
  • Wireless internet access in the parking lot.

The library expansion was made possible by legacies of the estates of Jimmy Goldston and Virginia Hester, including architectural fees paid by the Friends of the Goldston Library sponsors, the late Rebecca Watson, and Gaines Oil Company.
